The Excelsior Vittoria had been opened as a hotel by the Fiorentino family in and is still, to this day, run by their descendants. Using single phrases is one thing but lifting a nearly complete article another. I have already referred to the organ Adriano Falcioni plays. A highlight of their early career was sharing the stage with the Shadows, in the latter's only Cavern Club appearance. For some years he worked as a composer and violinist at the court in Copenhagen. However, the lack of a more appropriate tuning is a serious blot on this production.
The University attracted popes and kings, as well as students of the calibre of DanteCopernicus and Boccaccio. The largest part of his keyboard music has been preserved in three collections with the title of Tabulatura Nova. What has come down to us is mostly what was written down by pupils or what an organist himself decided to put down for pedagogical purposes. Despite their talent and track record, the band's success in the record market was limited, and most of their work came as backing musicians, or as the house band in German clubs, including the Star-Club in Hamburg.
The album just continues to bedazzle with nosedives into a mind-boggling diverse eclectic palette of moods and styles whether it be lounge jazz, Canterbury Scene prog, Paganini inspired violin antics with classical piano, gypsy folk, tango, classical, 60s pop vocal as in Tom JonesSantana-esque Latin jazz soul, mambo, big band, game show music and bossa nova just to name a few. And then it delivers a nice rockin' guitar solo. Samuel Scheidt was one of Sweelinck's main pupils. At the back of the hotel, the terrace has panoramic views over the bay of Naples and of Vesuvius across the water.

After his first album Non farti cadere le braccia "Don't let your arms fall",where he was still finding his way between tradition and innovation, Bennato decidedly chose the latter, many of his songs being performed by himself as a one-man band, with a string acoustic guitar, harmonica, kazoo and foot-drum.
A short distance from the Archiginnasio, in Piazza dei Celestini, a bronze sculpture of Dalla sitting on a bench was unveiled in close to the house where he lived. What has come down to us is mostly what was written down by pupils or what an organist himself decided to put down for pedagogical purposes.
The band also released instrumentals, including a driving rendition of Henry Mancini 's Peter Gunn theme. The song, Caruso, released inwas his most famous composition. This already indicates that the organ which Adriano Falcioni plays is not in mean-tone temperament.
The lyrics are hilarious and the band reminds me a bit of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band in that department as well as Zappa. In addition to the album length being expanded, so too is the musical cast with 21 musicians and vocalists taking turns like a collective on different tracks.
Most of the songs in the album became classics, not only of Bennato's repertoire, but also of Italian pop music in general, "Il gatto e la volpe" "The cat and the fox" probably being the most famous one. He remained in Husum until his death.
In just the first track 'Cowboy-Song' alone there is brass rock, Zappa-esque jazz-fusion, straight forward rock, spaghetti western, surf rock, progressive rock moments and soul funk all wrapped around an instantly addictive vocal melody.
The version of Caruso sung by Pavarotti sold more than nine million copies and Dalla was invited to sing Caruso in a duet with Pavarotti in a 'Pavarotti and Friends' concert in Modena in After this big success, no new album appeared untilwhen Bennato surprised fans, critics and the whole music biz with a very unconventional move: two albums in less than a month: Uffa!
Careful scrutiny will reveal even subtler intricacies. The same goes for the dances from the pen of Heinrich Scheidemann, generally considered the founder of the North German organ school. Dalla is most famous for composing the song, Caruso, in after staying in the suite the great tenor used to occupy overlooking the sea at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrento.
Less vibraphones this time around and more clavinet, piano, organ and heavy percussion. Partly due to his short life he left only a small oeuvre. They also became Billy Fury 's backing band, in the late s. They are written in the stylus phantasticus which has its origins in the seconda prattica which emerged in the early decades of the 17th century in Italy.
There is no indication for a staccato, and a differentiation between the notes of the theme would lend it some vitality which is lacking here. His father was organist in Schwabstedt when Nicolaus was born.
This results in an interpretation of this piece which is not totally convincing. In he was appointed organist of the Stadtkirche in Husum.
The cover of the album shows a plan for the Naples light-rail system that Bennato had developed for his final project as a university student. Most stops are copies of registers in the organ of St Peter und Paul in Cappel. The album also contained big hits but was generally overshadowed by the hugely successful Sono solo canzonette, a concept album based on the Pater Pan fairy tale and affirming the value of fantasy and imagination over reason and logic.

The original formation of the DR DOPO JAM was formed by bandleader, composer, instrumentalist, vocalist and head honcho Kristian Pommer in Roskilde, Denmark not too far from Copenhagen back in under the guise of a Zappa-inspired psychedelic band but by the time the band (after many lineup changes) got to their debut "Entree" init had become an eclectic mishmash of styles surrounded.
